KS Memory of Futures DS – 240804 2 MEMORY OF FUTURES

We think of memories as being focused on the past. However, our ability to move freely in the temporal realm of past, present and future is far more complex and sophisticated than commonsense would suggest. Lost in transcription: p21 repression, mechanisms, and consequences.

The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21WAF1/CIP1 is a major player in cell cycle control and it is mainly regulated at the transcriptional level. Whereas induction of p21 predominantly leads to cell cycle arrest, repression of p21 may have a variety of outcomes depending on the context. In this review, we concentrate on transcriptional repression of p21 by cellular and viral factors, and delv...

Memory in Returns and Volatilities of Commodity Futures’ Contracts

Various authors claim to have found evidence of stochastic long memory behavior in futures’ contract returns using the Hurst statistic. This paper reexamines futures’ returns for evidence of persistent behavior using a biased-corrected version of the Hurst statistic and an estimate of the long-memory parameter based on the process spectrum. Results based on these new methods provide no evidence...
